Carnaval in Barranquilla

The world’s second largest Carnaval is held in Barranquilla, Colombia. We hadn’t really planned on going, but our new friends Dylan, Chris, and Cole from Washingtone that we shared a container with from Panama to Colombia with had arranged to stay at a farm about an hour outside of town and bus in for the event. We decided to tag along and get involved. In addition to the boys from Washington we also met up with Will, who I bought the camper off of, also in Washington, and happened to fly into Colombia right as we arrived. With the addition of zee germans Max and Paul who were also staying at the farm and Katche’s friend Laura we had an awesome group and it turned out to be an amazing and epic undertaking. The weekend consisted of leaving the farm around mid-day and not returning until 5 or 6 in the morning. Big props to my dad for being on board 100% of the way. Our fantastic host Katche was an excellent guide to the many events in Barranquilla, and I fully recommend staying at Finca Carmen with her next year for the full Carnaval experience. Check out my blog roll under the main menu for links to Dylan, Chris, and Cole’s travel blog as well as Katche’s photography blog! The photos

  1. Awww, thank you monito banana! I loved having you there… was our routine a little too hard core? And yes, your dad is amazing, keeping it wild at the spirit is the key. Loved having you there and being part of your adventure!
