Picture, if you will, a small hut situated on the doorstep of an endless mountain playground. A masterpiece of stone masonry where climbers, skiers, and mountaineers from around the world congregate to take their turn on the jungle gyms. This is a place where craft beer is brewed and available on tap, and tasty pizzas are served straight out of the oven. Imagine yourself relaxing with a cup of mate and watching through the window as the sun rises on a backdrop of spires and couloirs only a stone’s throw away. In Argentina what you’re feeling now is called buena onda. In Canada we call it good vibes. These are the best two words I can think of to describe this place that somehow actually exists and goes by the name of Refugio Frey.
Gear up, step out the door, and cast yourself into the Frey. Welcome to mountain paradise.
